#3) The most likely geological hazard in our area would be either flooding, earthquakes, or winter storms. The state of New Hampshire averages 2 earthquakes a year at a magnitude of 2.0-3.5. Most flooding is caused by the melting of snow in the spring but can also be caused by heavy rains over many days or storms. In New Hampshire, winter storms attribute to thousands of dollars in damage, many deaths, and many power outages.

#5) The mantle, the crust, the asthenosphere, and the lithosphere are all layers of the earth. The innermost layer is the mantle, then the asthenosphere, lithosphere, and then the crust. The crust is the thinnest layer of the earth ranging from 5 to 40 km. wide.
